    Amos Wilkie Wilkins (Primary Source)

    During the Second World War, Amos Wilkins left the family farm in Alberta to join the Canadian Army in 1940. He served with The Calgary Highlanders infantry regiment and was among the mortar platoon personnel assigned to the disastrous Dieppe Raid on 19 August 1942. He was commissioned as an officer in 1943 and later wounded at Woensdrecht, Holland in October 1944.
